SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating an accident that sent one man to the hospital Thursday in Wichita.

Just after 8:30p.m., police and EMS responded to an injury accident near the intersection of Douglas and Seneca  according to officer Charley Davidson.

Upon arrival, police located a 56-year-old man in the street with critical injuries. EMS transported him to a local hospital.

Investigators determined the victim was crossing Seneca north of Douglas from west to east when he ran into the front corner of  a southbound Ford Taurus driven by an 81-year-old man, according to Davidson. Police believe the pedestrian's alcohol use was a factor in the accident.
