GEARY COUNTY — A Kansas man accused in the August 2018 shooting death of one man and wounding of another has been sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison, according to the Geary County Attorney's office.

In October, Fontelle Jolly pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in the death of Felix Snipes, 29, Junction City.

Snipes was shot in the parking lot of a Junction City apartment complex and died from his wounds. Another man, Cartavius King, Junction City, was wounded and recovered.

After serving the prison term, Jolly will be placed on post-release for 36 months. He must also register as a violent offender for 15 years according to the Geary County Attorney.

Jolly's ex-girlfriend testified the shooting started over an argument between her, Jolly and her child's father, over where the child would live.
