Kansas bank robbery suspect took cash, employee's car

SHAWNEE COUNTY — The FBI and local law enforcement authorities are investigating a weekend bank robbery and continue to search for a suspect.

Just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to Intrust Bank, 1035 SW Topeka Blvd. in Topeka on the report of an aggravated robbery, according to Lt. John Trimble.

Officers discovered that a suspect described as a black male, standing approximately 5-foot-8, skinny build, and wearing red clothes entered the bank. The suspect then displayed a handgun and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect stole a vehicle belonging to a bank employee and left the area in an unknown location.

Just after 2:30p.m. Saturday, police located the vehicle. It was unoccupied.  

Police have not reported an arrest or additional details. Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call police.
