Police catch Kan. felon driving stolen car left running, unattended

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an auto theft and have a suspect in custody.

Just after 3a.m. Friday, police responded to report of an auto theft in the 9100 Block of East Harry in Wichita, according to officer Paul Cruz.

The 2000 Honda Civic had been left running and unattended. Officers searched the vicinity and located the vehicle near the intersection of Harry and Rock.  They conducted a traffic stop but the driver later identified as 25-year-old Sean Nicholson refused to stop. 

Officers used a tire deflation device to to stop the car in the 900 Block of South Waverly, according to Cruz.

After a brief foot pursuit, police arrested Nicholson. He remains jailed requested charges that include auto theft, evade and attempt to elude, driving while suspended, hit and run and resist arrest.

He has previous convictions for burglary, theft and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
