Melinda Jean Sporing, age 60 of Colby, Kansas, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family Monday, November 18, 2019, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born September 3, 1959, in Denver, Colorado to Luke Steinman Jr. and Wilda Jean (Chinn) Steinman.
Melinda married Ronald D. Sporing on October 15, 1982 in Yuma, Colorado. Melinda and Ron lived between Goodland, KS, Denver, and parts of Eastern Colorado before settling in Haxtun, CO for 25 years. They then lived on farms near Holyoke, CO and Imperial, NE before moving to Colby, KS in March of 2019. In addition to caring for the many family members and friends that came into her life, Melinda was a paraeducator assisting those with special needs.
Melinda is survived by her husband, Ronald D. Sporing; three sons, Kenneth Holiman and wife, Sheryle, Windsor, CO: Robert Steinman and wife, Faustina, Lincoln, NE; Ronald Sporing, Colby, KS; two daughters, Mindy Machlan, Denver, CO; Jensina Sporing, Colby, KS; her mother, Wilda Jean Benson, Haxtun, CO; two brothers, Dan Steinman, Camarillo, CA; Mark Steinman, Omaha, NE; one sister, Kim Steinman, Emerson, IA; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Luke Steinman Jr.; one son, Curtis Sporing; one brother, Robert Dean Steinman; and one sister-in-law, Cheryl Steinman.
A private family memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date.
