Police: Missing Kansas woman located and is safe

Deborah Peterson has been located and she is safe, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.

At about 10:15a.m. Thursday, a community member observed Peterson’s vehicle along the street in a north Salina neighborhood and contacted the Salina Police Department. Peterson was subsequently located at a residence in the area.

The Salina Police Department (SPD) is asking for the public's assistance in locating a 59-year-old Kansas woman.

On Wednesday, a family member reported 59-year-old Deborah Peterson of Tescott went missing.

The family member reported their last contact with Peterson was on Monday, September 22, at about 4:30a.m. when Peterson left the family member’s residence, located in Central Salina. It was believed Peterson was driving back to her residence in the Tescott area. Peterson left behind important medications.

Family members also reported Peterson being in mental health crisis recently. 

Peterson was driving a white Volkswagen Golf four door bearing Kansas tag 794RCX.

The vehicle has a distinguishable green hatchback with a bumper sticker that states, “I identify as a green Volkswagen."  The vehicle was last seen in Salina northbound on Ohio at Pacific on Monday, September 22, at about 12:30 pm.  

Peterson is described as a 59-year-old white female, approximately 5-foot-5, 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

"We have no leads right now," said Salina Police Captain James Feldman. "Any help from the community would be wonderful." Peterson is entered nationally as a missing person.
