🥎 Monarchs split with Cowgirls

GOODLAND – The TMP-Marian softball team split their doubleheader in Goodland Friday. The Monarchs rallied from an early deficit and won game one 10-5 to end a three-game losing streak. In game two, the Cowgirls overcame an early 8-0 deficit for a 13-11 victory.

The Monarchs are now 6-6 on the season.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 10, Goodland 5
The Monarchs erased an early 5-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the third to take a 6-5 lead. They added two in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Jaci VonLIntel hit a bases-loaded RBI single followed by Sophia Coulter’s bases-loaded double which scored three to tie the game. The Monarchs took the lead for good on a fielder’s choice from Julianna Baalman which scored Coulter.

Coulter went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Monarchs nine-hit attack.

Kyleigh Allen allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk and picked up the win.

Game 2: Goodland 13, TMP-Marian 11
The Monarchs lead 8-0 entering the bottom of the third but couldn’t overcome eight errors. Goodland struck for five in the third, six in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to build a 13-8 lead. TMP scored three in the top of the seventh.

Jaci VonLIntel hit a two-run double and Taylor Marvin added a two-run single to give the Monarchs a 4-0 lead in the first. VonLintel grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded to push the lead to 5-0 in the second. Sophia Coulter doubled driving in two more runs to put TMP up 7-0. Kyleigh Allen made it 8-0 with a run-scoring single in the top of the third.

Alexa Ryersee hit a two-run homer and Kyleigh Allen an inside the park home run in the seventh.

Marvin had three hits, two RBI's and two runs scored. Kyleigh Allen had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Allen went 3 1/3 innings in the circle, allowing 10 runs (six earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and five walks and took the loss. Ryersee didn’t allow an earned run in the final 2 2/3 innings.
