Police searching for vehicle in fatal Kansas hit-and-run

SHAWNEE COUNTY—One person is dead after a hit-and-run accident in Topeka. Just after 10p.m. Sunday, police responded to a hit and run fatality accident near the intersection of SE 6th Avenue and Branner Street, according to Topeka Police Lt. John Trimble.

When officers arrived, they found one person deceased. It was reported the subject was struck by a black passenger car that then fled the area. The Topeka Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit is  leading the investigation.

Just after 4a.m. Monday, SE 6th Avenue and streets directly East of Branner Street for several blocks were reopened to the public.  Police released no additional details including the name of the victim.
