
NCK Tech announced this week the new hires of Jena Hartman, director of learning services in Beloit, and Wilma Powers, culinary instructor in Hays.
Powers has been an Ellis County resident for 37 years. Through those years, occupationally she has held positions as a personal chef and caterer for 30 years, event planner and coordinator for 20 years as well as a food service director at Hays Holiday Inn and USD 407. Powers received a bachelor's in home economics from Fort Hays State University.
“Wilma Powers brings in a one of a kind attitude to the NCK Tech Culinary Program," said Steve Hudman, vice president of the NCKTC Hays campus." Her love of cooking good food, coupled with her many years of food service experience are a definite win for the NCK Tech Family and students of the Culinary Program.”

Hartman grew up in Beloit but left to obtain her bachelor's in geography from the University of Kansas and a master's in teaching special education from Pittsburg State University. Recently, she has been a middle school special education teacher in De Soto.
“We are excited to have Jena on our Student Success Team. She brings a lot of great experience from the K-12 world to Learning Services at NCK Tech. Jena will be a great student advocate and resource for our faculty and staff as well,” said Jayme Owen, dean of student success on the Beloit campus.
