
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A woman who admitted killing her 80-year-old mother on Halloween in 2025 will learn her fate Monday.

Angelynn Mock, 48, is scheduled to attend a sentencing hearing on Monday in the courtroom of Judge Jeff Goering, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
On August 21, Mock entered a guilty plea to one count of first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of her mother, 80 year old Anita Avers.
Just before 8a.m. October 31, 2025 police responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 1500 block of East Crowley in Wichita, according to a media release from Wichita Police. First responders located Mock outside the home.
Inside the residence, officers found Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased at 8:26 a.m.
Mock was transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
