SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident have identified the victim as 43-year-old Matthew Golden of Wichita.
At midnight on Saturday night, police were in the area of 3400 South Hydraulic when they observed two motorcycles with two riders who were involved in a crash, according to Officer Trevor Macy.
The officers stopped to assist the riders and requested assistance from EMS. Police identified Golden as one of the riders and he was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Macy.
EMS transported the other rider, a 36-year-old man, to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through the investigation, officers learned that the motorcycles were northbound on Hydraulic when they attempted to go around another northbound vehicle.
One of the motorcycles made contact with the car, which caused both motorcycles to crash. The other vehicle left the scene. Police released no additional details.
