Per-day virus rate in Ellis Co. falls slightly; 49 new cases indentified

The Ellis County Health Department on Wednesday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell slightly from 18 on Monday to 17 on Wednesday.

There were 49 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Monday. There are currently 304 active cases, including 13 active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 2,600 recovered cases. 

As of Wednesday, there were 26 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 30 on Tuesday, with 19 of those active patients and seven in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose to 21.3 percent.

Since reporting began, there have been 2,935 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 30 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 15,545 tests administered, 7.8 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so the figures might not necessarily correspond.
