KANSAS CITY —A man has been charged in an August 2013 rape in Grain Valley, Missouri after he was identified by DNA testing, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Jason Dewayne Bell, 24, Grain Valley, faces Rape in the 1st Degree and Sodomy in the 1st Degree. A grand jury indicted Bell in August.
According to court records, the Missouri Highway Patrol issued a report to Grain Valley detectives alerting them that defendant's DNA was found in a sample collected from the victim in an August 2013 sexual assault. In March 2024, the victim told detectives she went to a pub in Independence with others when the defendant started driving her to a parking lot near trucks and he sexually assaulted her in the vehicle. Detectives reported the defendant had been a suspect in other sexual assault investigations.
