KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces charges for his role in stealing a vehicle and a stand-off with police.

Tyrin Mosby-Sherman is charged with 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop by Fleeing, one count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and one count of 1st Degree Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.

According to court records, Kansas City police were patrolling the area of East Linwood Boulevard and Bellefontaine Avenue on Sept. 10 when they observed an accident. 

Mosby-Sherman was standing near the driver’s side door of an Audi, which crashed into the back side of a white SUV. Officers observed him pulling a small child from the Audi and then fled on foot from the accident. Officers took him into custody and safely recovered the child. The Audi was confirmed stolen. 

Officers recovered a firearm and three vehicle key fobs, including one for an Audi, on the ground where the defendant was taken into custody.  Mosby-Sherman met the requirement for bond and is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
