MANHATTAN — Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a Christmas morning house fire in Manhattan.
Just after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to house fire at 2717 Wyndham Heights Drive, according to a media release.
Crews found a single-family dwelling with heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the house. Fire crews aggressively attacked the fire and searched the house for occupants, but none were found.
The fire reached a second alarm before it was contained within 30 minutes. A total of 17 firefighters responded on 6 fire apparatus with fire units clearing by 10:30 a.m. The house is a one-story with a walk-out basement. Two occupants live in the home, but neither were home when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The building is no longer habitable. Loss is estimated at $250,000 to contents and $450,000 to the structure. The owner is listed as Kenny Fischer of the same address.
