GREAT BEND — The number of active 
COVID-19 cases&nbsp;in Barton County went up more than 40 percent during the 
first seven days of this month.&nbsp;The county health department 
reported&nbsp;127 cases countywide&nbsp;as of&nbsp;Tuesday afternoon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The 
biggest increase occurred in Hoisington. There&nbsp;were&nbsp;32 active cases&nbsp;in 
Hoisington on Tuesday&nbsp;compared to 12 on Sept. 1.&nbsp;Great Bend, Ellinwood, 
Albert and rural Barton County also saw an increase in the number of 
cases.&nbsp;Only Pawnee Rock&nbsp;had fewer cases&nbsp;with the number&nbsp;there&nbsp;dropping 
from eight to four during the reporting period.&nbsp;&nbsp;

44.8 percent of 
Barton County residents 12 years and older are fully vaccinated against 
the virus. A vaccine for&nbsp;children under the age of 12 has not yet been 
approved.&nbsp;&nbsp;
