Police: Woman carjacked at knifepoint in southwest Kansas

FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a robbery and asking the public for help in locating a suspect.

Around 9:30 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to an aggravated robbery at the Greenbriar Apartments in the 1100 block of W. Campbell Street in Garden  City, according to a media release.

Officers learned that a woman had parked in the north parking lot and exited her Honda Accord when she was approached by an unknown man and attacked.

The woman attempted to fight the suspect off, but the suspect pulled a knife on her, took her vehicle, and fled the scene.

The vehicle was later located at 3285 E. US Highway 50 (Love’s Travel Stop) unoccupied.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The woman was transported to St. Catherine Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, 5-foot-7 -5-foot-8 inches tall, with an unknown clothing description but wearing a balaclava ski mask.
