
RENO COUNTY —On Thursday morning, Reno County Fire Districts 4,6 and 7 were dispatched to a fire in the 200 block of North Main Street in Sylvia, according to a media release.

When units arrived on scene, they found a fully involved chicken coop on fire and that the fire had spread to the rear of the residence at that location.
Fire crews started an aggressive attack to the structure and quickly extinguished the fire. Damage to the home was limited ot the exterior of the home.

A technician from Black Hills Energy and an employee of the City of Sylvia made the call to dispatch and assisted the occupants of the home evacuate. There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.
Reno County EMS was on scene to assist with rehab and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation of the cause of the fire which was determined to be a heat lamp operating in the chicken coop.
