Kan. anglers take home top prize with 48 pound catfish

GEARY COUNTY —Eric and Jordan Horton of Derby, Kansas claimed top honors in the Cabela's King Kat Classic at Milford Lake over the weekend. They took home the first place prize of $50,000 plus another $1,240 for catching the big catfish weighing 48 pounds and 6.8 ounces.

Eric said Saturday the couple were still in check. "I don't know if it's sunk in yet. " He added they'll use their winnings to pay off their boat, a SeaArk ProCat 200.

Jordan noted that it's a rush to catch the catfish. "Especially  the big ones when they fight so hard and pull. It's just great. " When reminded the couple had just won $50,000 for all that work Jordan chuckled and said." Yeah, I'd do it again!"

The total weight of the fish caught by the Eric and Jordan was calculated at 169.38 pounds.  There were 62 boats ( teams ) competing in the Classic, which is the national championship tournament.
