Kansas man dies, woman injured after fall from motorcycle

SALINE COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just before 7p.m. Wednesday in Saline County.

A 2001 Harley Davidson driven by Steven Moore, 60, Salina was traveling in the 600 Block of South Broadway in Salina, according to Salina Police Sgt. Chad McCary.

A 2020 Chevy Silverado driven by Cody Soukup of Salina, was attempting a left turn out of the Club Carwash.  According to police, Soukup failed to yield which caused traffic to back up on the right lane of South Broadway.

The motorcycle traveled around backed up traffic and stopped to avoid the pickup.  Moore fell from the bike with and a passenger identified as 64-year-old Debra Dankenbring of Salina slid onto the road. Moore then slid into the back of a 2000 Dodge Neon driven by Jose Silva-Collazo who was in the center lane, attempting to turn into a parking lot.

EMS transported  Moore and Dankenbring to Salina Regional Health Center where he was pronounced deceased. 

The accident remains under investigation, according to McCary.
