KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating a homicide in Kansas City.
Just before 4a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to an apartment in the 900 block of E 134th Street on a reported Welfare Check, according to KCPD Officer Officer Alayna Gonzalez
When officers arrived to the apartment, they located evidence of a possible disturbance that may have occurred inside. They entered the apartment to check for any victims or injured persons. While searching the apartment for anyone in need of possible assistance, a woman was located suffering from apparent bodily trauma and she unresponsive, according to Gonzalez.
EMS personnel also responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased.
Preliminary information indicated the victim and an adult male subject were involved in a verbal altercation the turned physical. Due to the help of the public and neighboring police agencies, detectives were able to quickly locate a male subject of interest and take him into custody for further questioning.
Detectives are not looking for any additional subjects of interest at this time. Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting any witness statements.
