KANSAS CITY —Sheriff's Deputies stopped a man driving a stolen Dodge Charger and were able to recover it last week, according to a social media report from the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff.
The thief had tried to swap the VIN with that of a different vehicle, but investigators knew better.
"As far as we can tell, this may be the first car with a swapped VIN that we've recovered. The license plate was supposed to be on a different car, too. This is part of a larger investigation into a group involved in drugs and vehicle thefts by the Clay COunty Street Crimes Unit.
