STAFFORD COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 9a.m. Saturday in Stafford County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Pontiac Vibe driven by Michiel De Jongh, 25, Saint John, was
southbound on NW 30th Avenue and did not stop at the stop sign for U.S. 50.
An eastbound 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Heather Renee Smith-Arensman, 45, Kinsley, struck the Pontiac. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound ditch.
De Jongh was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Minnis Chapel. EMS transported Smith-Arensman and a passenger Taylor Arensman, 10, Kinsley, to the Stafford County Hospital. De Jongh was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
