
MANHATTAN—Law enforcement authorities investigating an April opioid-related death in Manhattan have made an arrest.
On Friday, police arrested Austin Dowling, 28, of Manhattan for the distribution of controlled substances causing great bodily harm - the alleged substances being Oxycodone and Fentanyl, according to a media release from the Riley County Police Department.
Just before 11a.m. officers stopped Dowling after he was identified while driving near the intersection of Valleywood Drive and Barnes Road. in Manhattan and took him into custody without incident..
Dowling is being held on requested charges of two counts of distribution or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm, and two counts of use of a communication facility for a drug transaction.
Dowling was also arrested on two additional warrants for probation violation and failure to appear. He is currently confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $116,000.
