JOHNSON COUNTY—The Johnson County, Kansas sheriff's office shared images of a bobcat in a county neighborhood.
The sheriff's office wrote, "wild animals may pass through neighborhoods, but that does not mean they need food or help. The best thing to do is leave them alone and allow them to move on.
"JCSO Animal Control Officer Shoop says we have received multiple reports of a bobcat in De Soto. Feeding a wild animal gives it a reason to stay or return. Over time, it may lose its natural caution around people, creating a dangerous situation for residents, pets, livestock and the wild animal itself."
"If you see a bobcat or other wildlife, give it space. Do not approach, follow or feed it. Keeping wildlife wild is better for everyone."
