KANSAS CITY—A Kansas City man is facing charges for a double murder in south Kansas City, Missouri last year.
Kevion Westmoreland, 20, faces two counts of 2nd Degree Murder, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, and one count of 1st Degree Robbery, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
According to court records, Kansas City police responded to a shooting in the area of East 87th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard on January 2, 2025. Upon arrival, officers located two deceased victims near a vehicle with gunshot wounds.
Based on witness reports, cellphone data, and surveillance footage, detectives determined the victims met up with Westmoreland and a co-conspirator to purchase a firearm. When one of the victims exited his vehicle, one of the co-conspirators robbed him, and the Westmoreland shot the victims.
DNA from a bullet casing from the crime scene also matched the defendant.
A Jackson County judge set the defendant’s bond at $500,000 cash only.
