
KANSAS CITY —The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Kansas City.
Just after 5:30p.m. Thursday, KCPD officers were notified of a domestic assault which occurred in the 7000 Block of North Robinhood lane, according to a media release from the patrol.
The female victim of the assault left the home where the assault occurred and met officers at a secondary location. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital. After speaking with the victim, police responded to the original residence to arrest the suspect just after 8:30p.m. Officers made contact with the 57-year-old suspect.
The suspect exited the home armed with a large knife and advanced toward police. During the confrontation, one officer fired his duty weapon striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene. One officer received minor injuries during the altercation. The officer was treated at the scene and released. The Patrol released no additional details late Thursday including the name of the suspect.
