BENTON COUNTY, Mo. —Two people died in an accident that occurred just before 9p.m. Friday in Benton County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Dodge Avenger driven by a 44-year-old Clinton, Missouri woman was southbound on MO 7 over the Mile Long Bridge. The car crossed into the path of a northbound Chevy Tahoe driven by a 26-year-old Clinton, Missouri man. The car struck the SUV head-on.
After impact the Tahoe struck the bridge. The SUV and the boat it was towing fell into the water. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
