SUMNER COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 5p.m. Saturday in Sumner County,
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by Marty Vannordstrand, 49, Wichita, was northbound at 1099 N Oliver one mile north of Belle Plaine. The driver began to pass in a no passing zone at the train tracks. He lost control of the pickup. The vehicle traveled into the west ditch and slid into a tree.
Vannordstrand was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Cornejo Funeral Home. EMS transported two passenger, a 14-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy to Wesley Medical Center. All there were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
