🎙 Per-day virus rate in Ellis Co. falls to 1; just two new cases identified

The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell to one.

There were just two new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Wednesday. There are currently 15 active cases, including one active hospitalization of an Ellis County resident, and 3,685 recovered cases.

As of Friday, there were three COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from seven on Thursday, with just one of those active patients and two in the recovery phase.

As of Wednesday, there were seven COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 10 on Tuesday, with one of those active patients and six in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests remained steady at 2.8 percent.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,700 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 73 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 25,517 tests administered, 13.4 percent have returned positive for coronavirus.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
