SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a hit and run accident in Saline County have located the vehicle that fled the crash.

A green 1995 Ford Mustang driven by Kyle Johnson, 27, Ellsworth, was eastbound on Kansas Highway 140 (K-140), about a mile east of the Saline-Ellsworth county line on Wednesday, according to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan

Johnson told deputies he thought an eastbound silver Ford Mustang with dark blue stripes and a personalized tag was going to pass him.

Instead, the vehicle struck the left rear of Johnson's Mustang, causing it to spin across the road and roll once, coming to rest on its wheels, according to Soldan.

The silver Mustang spun off the road but the driver then continued eastbound.

Although Johnson noticed the silver Mustang had a personalized license tag, he was not able to read it, according to Soldan

Just after 8:30p.m. Thursday, deputies located the Mustang in the 11000 block of West Stimmel Road. The abandoned car had dark blue stripes and damage that was consistent with the accident.

Deputies are attempting to contact the registered owner. The car was registered to an address in Alden, Kansas, according to the sheriff.
