A Salina teen escaped injury after a pickup he was driving rolled and caught fire just after 8:30p.m. Friday southeast of the city.

A 1969 Chevy pickup driven by Josiah Reilly, 19, of Salina, was southbound on S. Holmes Road just south of E. Water Well Road, according to  Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan.

A wash-boarded area of the roadway caused him to lose control of the 1969 Chevrolet C10 pickup he was driving. The pickup fishtailed, rolled onto its side in the west ditch, and caught fire.

Reilly was able to escape the pickup without injury, Soldan said.

Rural firefighters extinguished the blaze. The pickup was destroyed.
