
SEDGWICK COUNTY—A Kansas man involved in a fatal 2022 shooting captured on a security camera is scheduled to learn his fate Tuesday.

Michael Austin, Jr., 40, Wichita, is scheduled to appear in Judge Eric Williams' courtroom Tuesday afternoon for sentencing, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
In the March 2022 shooting, Amyion Mcdowell-Mitchell, 18, died following an argument during a party at a home in the 5000 block of Osie in Wichita, according to Wichita Police. Security camera images showed a suspect, later identified as Austin, running from the scene of the crime. Police arrested Austin in March of 2023
