RENO COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on child sex charges after conducting an undercover operation into the solicitation of a child for sex.

Just after 3 p.m. Thursday, members of the Hutchinson Police Department Special Operations and Investigations Bureau completed an investigation into a Juvenile Sex Offense, according to a media release from Hutchinson Police.

The suspect Randy J. Wheeler, 33, Hutchinson, believed he was going to meet a minor for a sexual encounter, but instead met Hutchinson police officers.

They arrested Wheeler on requested charges of Indecent Solicitation of a child, Sexual Exploitation of a child, Electronic Solicitation, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Felony Interference with Law Enforcement.
