87-year-old remains jailed a week after standoff at Kan. home

KIOWA COUNTY—An 87-year-old man remains jailed on multiple allegations after a standoff at a Kansas home, according to Kiowa County jail records.

Just after 4:30p.m. September 2, the Greensburg Police Department and Kiowa County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Main Street  in Greensburg, according to a media release.

When officers arrived, they discovered 87-year-old Jack A. Loesch had fired shots inside his residence and barricaded himself inside the residence.

Area residents were evacuated and calls for assistance were made to the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Pratt County Sheriff's Office. 

Just after 7p.m. negotiations were successful and Loesch was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported to civilians or law enforcement. The case is being investigated by the Greensburg Police Department.  Loesch is being held on a $500,000 bond on a requested charge of Aggravated assault, Use of a deadly weapon.
