SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating after a man bitten by a dog died.
Just after 8p.m. Wednesday, 38-year-old Cyrus Talkington of Matfield Green was visiting with a friend outside a home in the 400 block of east 37th Street South in Wichita, according to a media release from police. The men's dogs were with them.
Investigators learned that after the friend went into the house, one dog bit Talkington on the arm and leg. Witnesses in the home saw what happened and attempted to get the dog away from him.
When first responders arrived, Talkington was unconscious and not breathing. EMS transported him to a local hospital where he died.
The cause of death is believed to be a medical condition brought on by the stress of the dog bite, according to police. Animal Control took the dog, according to police.
