Suspect accused of killing pregnant Kansas woman; baby survived

WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday in Wichita and have a man in custody identified as 19-year-old Matthew Wayne Criscenso, according to Sedgwick County booking records.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby, a resident of Wichita. At the time of the incident, she was pregnant, according to Office Rick Pena. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at 5:04 a.m.    Click here to visit the online fundraiser.

Doctors were able to deliver her infant, who is currently receiving care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a Wichita hospital. 

Police arrested Criscenso in the 700 Block of Laura Street and just before 10a.m. Sunday booked him into jail on requested charges of first-degree murder, battery, domestic battery, disorderly conduct, criminal restraint and contempt of court, according to online jail records.  He is expected to make a court appearance on the charges this week.
