9-year-old Kan. boy dies after being ejected in crash

JACKSON COUNTY —A 9-year-old boy died and three others including two other children were injured in a crash  just after 12a.m. Sunday in Jackson County, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Dodge passenger vehicle driven by William D. Wells, 31, Leavenworth, was northbound on U.S. 50 at Lovers Lane, approximately 25 miles south of Kansas City.

The driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2004 Ford passenger vehicle driven by Riley Greevebiester, 28, Wichita.  The Ford struck the drivers side of the Dodge. A 9-year-old boy from Leavenworth was ejected from the  Dodge.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner's office pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Prairie Township EMS transported a 9-year-old boy from Wichita in the Ford to Children's Mercy and Wells to Centerpoint Hospital. Lone Jack EMS transported a 12-year-old Leavenworth boy in the Dodge to Children's Mercy.

Greevebiester was not not injured.  The boy who died was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
