4 dead after pickup rolls into flooded Kansas wildlife area

LINN COUNTY—Four people died in an accident just after 11a.m. Friday in Linn County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2019 Dodge Ram driven by Larry L. Klingensmith, 66, Winnsboro, Texas, was northbound on U.S. 69 approximately two miles south of Kansas 52 Highway.

The driver lost of the pickup when it struck an icy patch on the roadway. The pickup entered the east ditch, rolled twice, entered a flooded wildlife area and submerged on its top.

Klingensmith and passengers 65-year-old Kimberly A. Klingensmith, 32-year-old Karly A. Klingensmith and 36-year-old Klingensmith, Nicolas L. Klingensmith all of Winnsboro, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Frontier Forensics.  Karly Klingensmith was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
