
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man was sentenced to prison Monday for a shooting death at motel in the fall of 2018.
District Judge Bruce Brown sentenced Cory Bentley, 25 of Wichita, to over 46-years in prison for the shooting death of Jackie Jerome, 43 of Wichita, according to Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett.
In October of 2018, Bentley shot Jerome in the parking lot of the Delux Inn at 8401 W. Kellogg in Wichita. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.
On May 14, 2021, Bentley pled guilty to second degree murder. In addition to the prison sentenceJudge Brown ordered Bentley to pay $759.50 for the funeral of Jerome and $500 in expenses to Mr. Jerome’s son who travelled from Iowa after learning of his father’s murder.
