Police ask for help to locate suspect in KC-area party killing

KANSAS CITY —An 18-year-old faces felony criminal charges in connection with the Dec. 11, fatal shooting of Robert Butler outside a Kansas City-area residence, according to Jackson County Prosuctor Jean Peters Baker.

Vyshon D. Wilson of Independence faces Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.

Wilson is not in custody but police have asked the public for help in locating him.

According to court records, on Dec. 11, police were dispatched to the 4600 block of Brentwood regarding a shooting. Officers found the victim, later identified as Robert G. Butler Jr, in front of the residence.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A witness told police who shot the victim. Other witnesses at the scene verified the suspect identified as Wilson had been at the residence for a small party. After the suspect shot the victim, he fled the scene and dropped a cell phone at the scene.
