Homicide: Woman jailed in connection with KBI investigation

MONTGOMERY COUNTY— The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Coffeyville Police Department are investigating the death of a man at 1709 S. Spruce St. in Coffeyville.

Following the autopsy, the victim’s death was ruled a homicide. Due to the state of decomposition, it will take time before the man can be positively identified.

Just before 2 p.m. Friday, authorities arrested 37-year-old Jennifer R. Garnett, of Coffeyville, in connected to the case. Garnett was arrested at 1518 S. Maple in Coffeyville on requested charges of burglary, theft, forgery and criminal use of a credit card. Garnett was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY– The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Coffeyville Police Department are conducting a death investigation at a residence in Coffeyville.

Just before 6p.m. Wednesday, April 28, the Coffeyville Police Department received a request from a citizen to check on the welfare of a resident at 1709 S. Spruce St. in Coffeyville, according to a media release from the KBI.

When Coffeyville police arrived at the home, they discovered a deceased male inside. Due to the state of decomposition, the man has not yet been positively identified.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, April 30. The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further will be released at this time.
