KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a Monday morning homicide near the Kansas City Power and Light District have identified the man who died as 28-year-old McKinley Johnson, according to KCPD Officer Jake Becchina.
Just before 1a.m., police responded to report of a shooting near Truman Road and Grand Boulevard, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'. First responders found Johnson on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot trauma. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Police also found two other shooting victims in a parking area behind a business. The two women were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Since there was a large crowd on the scene, police are hopeful someone may have information leading to an arrest.
