KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a deadly road-rage shooting in Kansas City.
Just after 7p.m. Friday, police were called to the area of southbound Interstate 29 near NW 72nd Street in Kansas City in regard to a vehicle that was observed to have run off the roadway, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
First responders located a vehicle south of NW 72nd Street, off the highway on the southbound side and down an embankment up against a barrier fence on the outer road, NW Prairie View Road.
Officers approached the vehicle and located a man, who appeared to have been shot, unresponsive inside the vehicle. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over.
EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. A short time later the victim was declared deceased at the hospital, according to Becchina.
Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting likely occurred while the victim was traveling southbound at or north of NW 72nd Street. Detectives and crime scene investigators temporarily closed north of that location to conduct their investigation and search closely for any potential evidence.
