The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell slightly from 22 on Wednesday to 20 on Friday.

There were 67 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Wednesday. There are currently 441 active cases, including 17 active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 2,376 recovered cases.
As of Friday, there were 32 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 32 on Thursday, with 29 of those active patients and three in the recovery phase.
The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell to 28 percent.
Since reporting began, there have been 2,845 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 28 coronavirus-related deaths.
Of the total 14,935 tests administered, 17.9 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.
