Woman charged in Kansas gentlemen’s club killing

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A woman accused in connection with the August 2020 deadly shooting outside a nightclub in Wichita made her first court appearance Tuesday.

Autumn Metcalf, 31 of Wichita, is charged with solicitation to commit murder in the 1st degree, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just before 7p.m. Monday, police booked Metcalf into the Sedgwick County jail, according to online booking records.

Just after 9p.m. August 24, 2020 police responded to a shooting at Baby Dolls in the 4900 Block of North Arkansas in Wichita, according to Wichita Police Captain Jason Stephens.

At the scene, police found  33-year-old Joe Wheeler III dead of a gunshot wound in a vehicle.

Investigators learned there was a disturbance in the club that spilled out into the parking lot.  Wheeler was shot while inside his car which was parked in the back business parking area, according to Stephens. 

Attorneys are scheduled to discuss the case on Oct. 11. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.
