Police ask for info on fatal Christmas Eve hit and run

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement asking the public’s assistance in obtaining any information that would be helpful in the investigation of the Christmas Eve hit-and-run fatality crash.

Just after 6:00 p.m. Dec. 24, police were dispatched to the area of SE 23rd Street and SE Davies Street in Topeka and found 55-year-old Lora Ann Patillo in the roadway, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.

She had severe trauma to her body. EMS transported her to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and she died. The investigation suggests she was possibly struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

TOPEKA —Law enforcement authorities investigating a hit and run accident say the victim 55-year-old Lora Ann Patillo has died of her injuries, according to Lt. John Trimble.

Just after 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, police were dispatched to the area of SE 23rd Street and SE Davies Street in Topeka in regards to an adult woman laying in the roadway, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered the woman had severe trauma to her body. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The initial investigation suggests the victim was possibly struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

SE 23rd Street between SE Market and SE Burr Street were closed off to traffic for an extended period of time during the investigation.
