
ALLEN COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after an accident Thursday in Allen County.
According to the Allen County Sheriff, the 30-year-old driver of a Ford Ranger told the investigating deputy he was driving with his knees and lost control as he was trying to light his (marijuana) as he drove home after work on U.S. Highway 54 just west of Gas, Kansas just before 5:30 p.m.
The driver didn't hit any vehicles as he crossed over 3 lanes, traveled into the ditch and was stopped by a cement culvert, a large fence corner-post, a telephone junction box and a utility pole.
The driver also was not wearing a seat belt and was tossed around inside the cab and received minor injuries.
The deputy took the driver into custody for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The sheriff's department did not release his name.
