KANSAS CITY —A firefighter was injured while working at the scene of a fire in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 7p.m. Sunday, crews responded to a reported fire at a vacant, former church, in the 2400 block of West Paseo Boulevard, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
On arrival crews reported smoke and fire showing from the structure . Crews initiated an interior attack and performed searches of the structure that came back all clear. The seat of the fire was mainly in the high ceilings and roof line of the building, making interior operations difficult.

However, one firefighter was transported and evaluated for minor injuries incurred during overhaul operations when a piece of debris fell and struck them.
KCPD's Bomb and Arson were notified and responded as part of protocol due to the nature of the structure. Dangerous Buildings along with city Planning were also requested to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
