Undersheriff IDs woman who died in 2-vehicle Kansas crash

BUTLER COUNTY—One person died in accident just after 1pm. Saturday in Butler County.

According to Butler County Undersheriff Daimon Cundiff, a Nissan passenger car driven by 64-year-old Melinda Redmond, Gentry, Arkansas, was southbound on NW River Valley Road, rural Burns, Kansas.

The driver  failed to stop at a stop sign at NW 150th Street.

The car collided with an eastbound Chevrolet SUV driven by a 63-year-old woman from Cunningham, Kansas.

Redmond was pronounce dead at the scene. EMS transported the woman from Cunningham, Kansas, to a Wichita hospital for treatment of  serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
